Cultivate16: Monday, July 11
By: John Morgan
Today I had a pretty busy day at the conference. This morning started off with a great keynote, and then I headed to a day full of educational sessions. I picked up some great information that I plan on sharing as part of next month's workshop. I also got some great ideas that will show up throughout the upcoming year. Cultivate always gives my creativity the kick it needs to bring you new ideas in our blog and in our stores.
This afternoon, I headed over to the OSU Chadwick Aboretum to check out the Cultivar Trial Gardens. Check out this article from last year for a more in-depth description of the trial gardens. This year the gardens looked great! (Last year they got beat up a few weeks before the conference by heavy rains.) Also, it was great to see the progress of the green roof on Howlett Hall.
After returning from the trial gardens, I headed to "Unplugged", a networking event for us younger folks. More importantly, our own Jon Neff was one of three finalists for the Retailer of The Year Award. Jon didn't win, but he's number one in our book. Plus, being one of three finalists out of all the garden centers represented is huge!
