Week 14

April 1st to April 6th

  • Tuesday, April 1st – April Fools Day 🤡

  • Seed Beets, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Kale, Onions, and Radishes Outdoors.

  • Seed Basil Indoors for Transplants.

  • Plant Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Kale, and Potatoes.

  • Plant Figs

  • Monitor for Asparagus Beetles.

Week 15

April 7th to April 13th

  • Friday, April 11th – WV Arbor Day 🌳

  • Saturday, April 12th – Passover Begins ✡️

  • Seed Carrots, Leaf Lettuce, Parsley, and Parsnips Outdoors.

  • Seed Dill and Celery Indoors for Transplants.

  • Plant Fruit or Hazelnut Trees, Shallots, and Strawberries.

  • Order Sweet Potato Slips.

  • Apply Crabgrass Control.

  • Turn Compost.

Week 16

April 14th to April 20th

Tuesday, April 15th – TAX DAY 💸

Sunday, April 20th – Easter ✝️ & Passover Ends ✡️

Seed Chives, Chamomile, and Peas Outdoors.

Seed Tomatoes (Late) and Watermelon Indoors for Transplants.

Plant Leeks, Peas, and Perennials.

Use Row Covers to Protect Tender Plants (Frost Advisories / Warnings).

Remove Row Covers from Strawberries.

Fertilize Lawn.

Refresh Mulch in Beds.

Start a New Compost Pile.

Week 17

April 21st to April 27th

  • Tuesday, April 22nd – Earth Day 🌎

  • Friday, April 25th – National Arbor Day 🌳

  • Seed Asian Greens, Carrots, Endive Sweet Corn, and Swiss Chard Outdoors.

  • Seed New Lawn.

  • Plant Blackberry and Raspberry Plants and Summer-Flowering Bulbs.

  • Apply pre-emergent landscape weed control.

  • Begin spraying Fruit Trees after petals fall.

  • Buy Herb cuttings/starts.

  • Start Grafting Tomato Plants.

Week 18

April 28th to April 30th

  • Seed Ground Cherries.

  • Seed or Transplant Lemon Balm.

  • Seed Tomatillo Indoors for Transplants.

  • Turn Compost.
