Episode Transcript

Hi! John Morgan here with this week’s episode of The Keep Growing Podcast with a look at the forecast and gardening week ahead for the Mid-Ohio Valley.  This week we’re covering week 30 of 2024.  Saturday, July 20th to Saturday, July 27th. Let’s take a look at the forecast.

This upcoming forecast is basically a repeat of last week with a warm and sunny weekend with temperatures near the 90s.  Then during mid-week we’re going to have storms and rain moving through with a drop in the temperatures to the low 80s and then cycling back toward warm and sunny weather toward the weekend.

Let’s hope for sunny weather on Saturday, the 27th. Join me at the West Virginia State Farm Museum for the Antique Tractor Show and Parade.  The event starts at 10 am with a pedal tractor pull for kids at 10:30 and the parade at noon.  It is a fun event.  You can visit the kitchen and store for a bite before hopping on a wagon behind one of the tractors for the parade.

Looking at the gardening week ahead, we have a full moon Sunday the 21st and the last quarter moon on Saturday the 27th.  Now is the time to focus on planting late crops like peppers and summer squash for a final harvest before frosts, and it is also the time to start planting cold hardy crops like brussels sprouts.  Also, with the heat of summer, you want to think about water.  Conserving water by mulching around your plants and also ensuring young trees and shrubs have adequate water to keep growing.

In the next few weeks looks for some changes online at Bob’s Market as we gear up for the return of Bob’s LIVE, our weekly live show on Facebook, YouTube, X, and Rumble.  Each week join me for a look at what’s happening in the greenhouse and other great gardening information to help you … well, keep growing.
